If you are considering booking a regular grass cutting service in Dundalk for the first time, it helps to know what you are actually getting. What does a professional visit include? How is it scheduled? What happens if it rains? This guide answers the practical questions we hear most often from homeowners across Dundalk and County Louth.
What a Professional Grass Cutting Visit Includes
A standard professional grass cutting visit from Gardening Services Dundalk includes:
Mowing the lawn. The main grass area is cut to an appropriate height for the time of year, using commercial-grade petrol mowers that produce a clean, even cut. We do not use battery-powered domestic mowers on customer lawns.
Strimming edges and around obstacles. Anything the mower cannot reach (around fence posts, tree bases, along walls, and tight corners) is tidied with a strimmer. This is what gives the lawn a finished look rather than just having the main area cut.
Blowing off hard surfaces. Grass clippings on paths, patios, and driveways are blown or swept off so the garden is left clean. This matters more than it sounds.
Removal of clippings. We take all grass clippings away. Some customers prefer us to mulch clippings back into the lawn, which is good for soil nutrition. We are happy to do either.
What Is Not Automatically Included
A standard grass cutting visit does not normally include:
- Scarifying or aeration
- Fertilising or lawn treatment
- Edging along flower beds with a half-moon spade
- Weeding of beds or paths
- Hedge trimming
These services can be arranged separately or as part of a broader maintenance package. Just ask when you book.
How Scheduling Works
We operate on a regular schedule throughout the growing season, typically from March or April through to October or November depending on how mild the year is. Most Dundalk customers are on a fortnightly schedule during the peak months and move to monthly from October onwards.
We contact customers in advance of their scheduled visit and keep them informed of any weather-related adjustments. We do not cut wet or waterlogged lawns because mowing in those conditions damages the turf and leaves ruts.
What Happens With the Weather?
This is the most common practical question for any Irish lawn care service.
If it rains on your scheduled day, we rearrange the visit to the next dry window. We try to reschedule within a few days rather than leaving it to the next scheduled fortnight. During periods of heavy or persistent rain, we communicate directly with customers about the revised schedule.
We do not cut in rain or immediately after heavy rain for a few reasons: cutting wet grass leaves clumps rather than clean cut material, the mower can damage a soft lawn surface, and the result simply does not look as good.
The Lawns We Work On in Dundalk
Dundalk gardens vary considerably. The older terraced houses in the town centre and areas like Muirhevnamore often have smaller rear gardens with limited gate access. Estates like Ard Easmuinn, The Ramparts, and Fatima have typical semi-detached garden sizes. Detached houses on the outskirts of town and in surrounding villages tend to have larger plots.
We work on all of these. For gardens with narrow side-gate access or long distances from the road to the back garden, we use smaller equipment or carry what is needed through. We do not charge extra for this in most cases, but if access is particularly difficult we will mention it when quoting.
Pricing
Most regular grass cutting customers in Dundalk pay between €25 and €50 per visit depending on lawn size and the services included. We give a fixed price per visit once we have seen the garden, so you know exactly what to expect. There are no hidden call-out charges and no minimum contract period.
See our full grass cutting cost guide for more detail on what affects pricing.

We cover all of Dundalk and the surrounding areas including Blackrock, Carlingford, Omeath, Ardee, Castlebellingham, Annagassan, and all villages across County Louth.
